EDGA Vilamoura Open 2022 – Dom Pedro Pinhal Golf Course
The first "Portugal
Swing” tournament of the EDGA Tour took place on February 13th-14th in Vilamoura. The tournament dubbed EDGA
Vilamoura Open is part of the "Portugal Swing” golf event.
The EDGA Vilamoura Open launched the 2022 season of the European
Disabled Golf Association and is playing an important role as one of the most
important golf events of the year for golfers with disabilities.
Dom Pedro Pinhal Golf Course
Dom Pedro Pinhal Golf Course, one of the golf courses of Dom Pedro Hotels &
Golf Collection group’s portfolio, was the golf course chosen to held the
1st tournament of the 2022 European Adapted Golf Association.
Located in the heart of Vilamoura, the Dom Pedro Pinhal golf course
was originally designed by Frank Pennink and later on improved by the
hand of Robert Trent Jones Sr.
The course finds itself laid out amongst impressive pine trees and set
out over gently undulating terrain. The first 9 holes at the Dom Pedro
Pinhal Golf Course serpentine through wild pine trees, while the other 9
are on open field, offering players a fabulous sea view.
The competition was open to all golfers with disabilities who hold an EDGA or WR4GD player pass
and was played by 43 players from 15 countries. The event included Gross,
Net and Stableford categories.

Vilamoura Open Final Score
Spaniard Juan Postigo claimed the top prize of 2022 EDGA
Vilamoura Open in the Gross division, after having added rounds of
71 (-1) and 68 (-4) strokes. Juan Postigo, a PING player, also
won the Net division with 143 (-1), having beaten his direct opponents
Mike Jones (2nd) and Francisco Cabello (3rd) 8 Net shots away. In
the Stableford category, the big winner was the Belgian player Liliane
Cambré, with 71 points.
For the whole duration of the competition, golfers were also able to
enjoy the wide offer available at Dom Pedro Pinhal, such as the
renovated clubhouse and its balcony with panoramic views over the golf course
and, its restaurant, where players were invited to indulge themselves with a
gastronomic experience inspired by the international and Portuguese cuisines.
The event was officially approved by the Portuguese Golf Federation,
an EDGA member. We remind you that EDGA is a non-profit
association led by volunteers from the National Golf Federations of 34
countries around the world. EDGA's main mission is to raise awareness of
golf as an inclusive sport and to improve the quality of life for people with
disabilities through the practice of golf.

In recent years, the Dom Pedro Hotels & Golf Collection group
has maintained a close collaboration with EDGA, mainly by jointly
hosting the European Tour’s Portugal Masters. It was therefore
with great pleasure that the Dom Pedro Hotels & Golf Collection
joined this tournament and the Dom Pedro Pinhal Golf Course proudly held such a prestigious golf event.
